Senator Bernie Sanders is running for U.S. President in 2016

This article was written July 8, 2015 but I will be updating it. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is actually an Independent but is running for president under the Democratic party. Wikipedia says:

Bernard "Bernie" Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Vermont. He has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 presidential election.

February 29, 2016 Update

Bernie Sanders Just Won Three of His Biggest Endorsements in a Long Campaign says:

On Friday, former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, announced his support for Sanders, writing that the senator is “leading a movement to reclaim America for the many, not the few."

Two days after Reich made his announcement, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, endorsed Sanders [She just resigned her position as vice chair of the DNC (Democratic National Committee)]. And the next day, Congressman Alan Grayson, D-Florida, announced that he give his super-delegate vote at this summer’s Democratic National Convention to the senator from Vermont.

January 13, 2016 Update

Bernie Sanders just got the endorsement of progressive group MoveOn. It has over 340,000 member and Sanders got 79% of the people voting for him. This group also endorsed Obama but not until right before the Super Tuesday nominating contests. Sanders will first use the 40,000 members in Iowa and the 30,000 members in New Hampshire to help him get those states.

Phone Banking For Bernie

Call voters in key states for Bernie. Below is all the information you'll need to get started.

IOWA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEVADA AND SOUTH CAROLINA ARE PRIORITY STATES. We are using a new dialing tool which helps volunteers connect with far more voters per hour than our manual dialing system.

Democracy of America Endorses Sanders over Clinton:

He began Thursday [12/17/2015] celebrating the endorsement of the Communications Workers of America union, which represents around 700,000 workers across the country.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders added more progressive grassroots support to his campaign Thursday, picking up the endorsement of the Vermont-based Democracy For America, which was founded out of Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign.

Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley each made direct appeals to DFA members. Dean, who founded the group and backs Clinton, wrote an email to DFA voters on her behalf: “I hope that Hillary will be your choice,” Dean wrote.

But in the end, Dean’s support for Clinton fell on deaf ears among the progressive faithful at DFA. Officials for the group said more than 270,000 members voted in DFA’s online election. Sanders got 87.9% of the vote, while Clinton earned 10.3%. (O’Malley got a paltry 1.1%, just a bit more than “no endorse,” which got .08%.)[This brings 1 million supporters to Sanders]

Also from beginning of November, Bernie Sanders Wins Historically Accurate Mock Election.

Western Illinois University has held 3 mock presidential elections since 1975, and each election they’ve accurately predicted the winner, even though Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama were surprises.

In other years, the students chose the correct Party (without the full mock election). And in 2011, it seems they predicted the Romney/Ryan ticket long before it was expected.

Bernie Sanders won in a landslide.

They had him winning the primary against Hillary Clinton by an almost 2 to 1 margin, and he wiped the floor with the Republican nominee, establishment Jeb! Can Fix It Bush, in the general. They predict Bernie to win next November by an almost 4 to 1 margin.

Bernie Sanders is giving his book, Outsider in the White House, free to anyone who makes a donation of a dollar or more. I got my book (it took 45 days).

October 5, 2015 Update

Boston.com said:

The Vermont senator announced on the Reddit sub-thread r/SandersForPresidentaround 11:30 a.m. Wednesday that his campaign reached one million online contributions, faster than the Obama campaign did in 2008 and 2012.

Sanders’ Twitter account said Wednesday afternoon the average contribution was now $24.68, urging more donations before the midnight deadline. [Using advanced calculus means that he raised over $24 million dollars].

Washington Post said October 5, 2015:

Eight years ago, 10,000 people packed Boston Common to see then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. On Saturday, twice that number [20,000] turned out at the Boston Convention Center to hear Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders speak.

Sanders's crowd was the largest in the modern history of presidential primary fights in Massachusetts, according to the Boston Globe, although it was only his third largest crowd of the campaign.

October 17, 2015 Update

This may be due to Sanders getting parties going during the Democratic debate but here are 6 Reasons Sanders Actually Won the Debate Despite What Pundits Claim. It has a very embarrassing thing that CNN did and lots of other great facts.

From September 16, 2015 Update:

U.S. Uncut says Top Economist Says Bernie’s Plan Will Actually SAVE the US $5 Trillion. It says:

Bernie Sanders is confident that his brand of “Democratic Socialism” could replace our current system of “Corporate Welfare.”

Well it turns out that Gerald Friedman, the economist whose analysis was used for the WSJ article saw it and wrote an open letter to them explaining that Sanders’ single payer healthcare proposal would actually SAVE America $5.08 trillion dollars over the next 10 years.

Read entire article that talks about wages, jobs, housing and health care.

At about 16 minutes on the video below of Portland, Maine, Senator Bernie Sanders says:

There is something profoundly wrong when the top one tenth of one percent own almost as much wealth as the bottom 90%!

Previously he was the mayor of Burlington that is Vermont's most populated city. He changed that city from a bad place to live to one of the best little cities in America. As far as him being a democratic socialist, it appears that a combination of capitalism and socialism work best. The best examples of this are the 2 countries with the 2 biggest economies. In the U.S, you have social security, disability and welfare that are all socialism.

The government collects money from people and gives it out to people. Officially China is a communist country that practices socialism. But polls show that China has more people that believe in free enterprise (capitalism) than America does. Money.cnn.com says "The Chinese like capitalism more than Americans." There are billionaires in China. So both of these countries use a combination of capitalism and socialism.

Sanders has been investigating other countries to find a better way of doing things in the United States. He has said that he likes the way they do things in Denmark like having free college for anyone, so he has something to copy. Here is what I do not like about Denmark. If I lived there and did great things, people would call me a great Dane! Here is what Wikipedia says about Denmark:

Danes enjoy a high standard of living and the country ranks highly in numerous comparisons of national performance, including education, health care, protection of civil liberties, democratic governance, prosperity and human development.[12][13][14] Denmark is frequently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world in cross-national studies of happiness.[15][16][17] The country ranks as having the world's highest social mobility,[18] a high level of income equality,[19] has one of the world's highest per capita incomes, and has one of the world's highest personal income tax rates.[20]

July, 12, 2015 Update

I just heard a TV newscaster say that when they looked at everyone under age 35 in an American poll, they found that more of them identified with socialism than capitalism. I have found that Merriam-Webster gives the best definitions. They define socialism as "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods." They also had a temporary notice for today. It said:

Socialism is currently in the top 1% of lookups and is the 10th most popular word on Merriam-Webster.com.

They define capitalism as "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods." They define communism as "a way of organizing a society in which the government owns the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) and there is no privately owned property." In practice, in communism they try to force other countries to follow this by capturing the country. End of Update.

Huffington Post has a June 25, 2015 article that is titled It's Official -- Bernie Sanders Has Overtaken Hillary Clinton In the Hearts and Minds of Democrats. It has quotes from other sources and it tells how the court has ruled that 30,000 emails of Clinton must be made public. Not mentioned above is that Hillary Clinton would be the ideal candidate for the Democratic Party, except that Joe Biden of the Democratic Party is currently Vice President of the United States. What the news has said about him is that he can talk too much and he likes to touch females that he is being video taped with. Otherwise the vice president of the party should run for president under that party.

The current people in the race for U.S. president for 2016 on Democratic side include the vice president but he has not confirmed this yet like the others have. Others for the Democratic side include former Governor Lincoln Chafee, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Governor Martin O'Malley, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and former U.S. Senator Jim Webb. The only 2 above that presently have a government job are Vice President Biden and Senator Sanders. That is 6 for the above.

On the Republican side you have former Governor Jeb Bush, Dr. Ben Carson, Governor Chris Christie, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, Former Governor Bob Ehrlich, Former IRS Commissioner Mark Everson, Businesswoman Carly Fiorina, Former Governor Jim Gilmore, US Senator Lindsey Graham, Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Governor John Kasich, Former Governor George Pataki, US Senator Rand Paul, Former Governor Rick Perry, US Senator Marco Rubio, Former US Senator Rick Santorum, Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Scott Walker. That is 19 for the above. This is current July 8, 2015.

It appears that most politicians are in it to get more money and prestige for themselves. It would be funny if Hillary Clinton wins since they will be in the White House and former Bill Clinton will just be there keeping house. But there are politicians that come along that really care about the people. Senator Bernie Sanders is one of them and I also believe that Ron Paul was one of them and Rand Paul is one of them,

More About Senator Bernie Sanders

Some of the above you will need to search out and learn for yourself. I just learned about China and capitalism after a friend told me his experience with 2 students from China going to school in the U.S. They said that the younger Chinese love capitalism. That is why I did a search for it.

Here is the Wikipedia page Bernie Sanders Presidential Campaign, 2016. It says:

Sanders says that a cornerstone of his campaign will focus on the income and wealth inequality that has eroded the American middle class.

Please look at the quote above in the pictures. If you do a search you will find that many do not know that the rich are getting richer and the others are getting poorer. A quick search will educate you about how the middle class is vanishing. So of course rich people do want Sanders to be president.

The way to become president is to let the huge corporations know that you will be backing them. For example you will help Monsanto out and help the huge corporations out that build 'defense' weapons by supporting a lot of war. That way you can get a lot of money from them from their campaign and other things. So Sanders will need to try to get elected without the above.

Hillary Clinton is very popular since she is so well known. Huffington Post has an article about Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. It says to vote for Sanders since his state of Vermont is the first state to make it a law to label GMO foods. The article says that Hillary Clinton has a Monsanto lawyer that is in charge of her campaign. Monsanto is the company making the GMOs (genetically modified organisms).

Bernie Sanders wants to put a lot of government funds into fixing up highways and roads to create many more jobs for people who need them. There used to be many people that were looking for jobs and could not find the. Now they are not looking for jobs since they have given up looking so they are not counted as unemployed people.

Here is an interesting article by Eric Zuesse on why he feels that Sanders will win the election. It says:

I concluded that Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders was likely to surprise on the upside at the start of his contest, and that, “Sanders would probably be able to crush any Republican except perhaps Rand Paul, if he were to win the Democratic primaries."

This is interesting since my second choice for president would be Rand Paul since I feel that he cares about the people like I mentioned above. Candidate can say anything that they want to get elected but it is more important what they actually do.

The Committee Assignments that Bernie Sanders is on

According to Bernie Sanders' webpage, he is on the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works that is responsible for dealing with matters related to the environment and infrastructure.

He is on the United States Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources that has jurisdiction over matters related to energy and nuclear waste policy, territorial policy, native Hawaiian matters, and public lands.

He is also on the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) that generally considers matters relating to these issues. Its jurisdiction extends beyond these issues to include several more specific areas, as defined by Senate rules.

He is on the United States Senate Committee on Budget that was established by the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974. It is responsible for drafting Congress's annual budget plan and monitoring action on the budget for the Federal Government. The committee has jurisdiction over the Congressional Budget Office.

He is on the United States Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs that considers matters relating to the compensation of veterans, life insurance issued on account of service in the Armed Forces, national cemeteries, pensions of all wars, readjustment of servicemen to civil life, and veterans' hospitals and medical care.

He is on a joint committee of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives focuses on promoting maximum employment, production, and purchasing power.

Republicans want to cut social security or disability by 20%. See following video where Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (son of Senator Robert Kennedy and nephew of President JFK) interviews Senator Bernie Sanders about it and how it is a scam. Note that Kennedy has spasmodic dysphoria that affects the way that he talks.
