How to Use Twitter to Promote Something

In 2008 Obama used Twitter to promote himself getting elected as president. I just read that TV and newspapers were not the first ones with the news about Lance Armstrong since they did not want to lose advertisers-- Nike was sponsoring Armstrong at that point. This news came out first from Twitter and bloggers.

What motivated me to write this article is that I saw someone promoting what this article was about. The promotion is longer than this article. The idea is to make you think that using Twitter, in no time you will be filthy rich. Then they tell you the normal price is $697 for this information. But since they are so generous they will let you have it for the low, low, low price of only $297. Then of course you download it so it is free for them to provide it to you.

Whereas for $35 you can buy an actual 500 page book that had to be printed. My 887 page book on Windows 7 cost me less than $35. I currently have over 42,000 followers on Twitter (here I am on Twitter so you can check this) and the person who placed the tweet/ad about the offer above has a lot less than this.

On Facebook you can only have 5,000 friends and there is no button to request fans. So a famous person would have a fan page on Facebook. But on Twitter famous people and normal people have the same thing. In fact Dr Jill Stein is running for president on the Green Party and when people follow her, she follows them back. So many will become excited by this and tweet that Jill Stein is following them on Twitter.

Note that if people vote for Obama or Romney, they are promoting murder (these are not wars since only congress can declare war). Whereas Jill Stein and Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party are running for president and they will bring all the soldiers home.

Some may resent me for putting my political opinion on this article, but I am giving you valuable information here and saving you from wasting $297 on the above offer. Also if you are using the internet to make money, this information may help you to make a lot more than you would have otherwise. Also what kind of future is America going to have by killing people in other countries.

The real reason for the U.S. to go to other countries to kill people is so the corporations that make weapons of war can have plenty of profit. A website says "When speaking of FEMA at the Republican debate last night, Rep. Ron Paul claimed $20 billion [annually] is spent on creating a nice air-conditioned environment [in tents] for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan." These corporations will not back a presidential candidate that will lower their profits.

Actually I can tell you right now that these people sign up in the military so they can have a job and support their family. Then they are forced to kill people in other countries and they know that they are not defending America. Some of these soldiers are killed by doing the above and then others return to the U.S. to kill themselves. This Huffington Post article: Veteran Suicide: Are We Losing The Battle? says:

Military suicides have increased since the start of the [illegal] wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a Center for a New American Security Suicide report. In the fiscal year 2009 alone, 1,868 veterans of these wars have made suicide attempts, according to armytimes.com.

A veteran commits suicide every 80 minutes, a fact the study attributes to the VA.

So if you want more of the above, then vote for Romney or Obama. Otherwise vote for Stein or Johnson who want to bring all of our troops home just like Ron Paul said that he would do. Ron Paul said that we just marched on in so we can just march on out. How would you feel if people that did not like your country had soldiers march on in and start killing people?

The way to get more followers is by following people. You can find someone famous in the area that you want to promote and follow their followers. Like for health you can look at the followers of Dr Oz.

If you do not know someone famous, then search for a group that uses the word of want you want to promote. For example a search for "vegan" shows Vegan Outreach and Your Daily Vegan. A search for tennis would get you Tennis magazine. Then you can follow the followers of them. Also a search for that word will show people tweeting about it and you can follow them.

The more you follow, the more followers you get. Twitter does have following limits. If you try to follow more than 1,000 people in a day, it will block you from following anyone else until the next day. On the list of followers it does not show how many tweets they have placed or how many they follow. You can take more time and click on that person.

It is not worth it to follow someone that has not placed any tweets or is not following someone. They probably signed up and then abandoned it. I usually do not take the extra time to do that. It does show their profile and picture. If there is no picture or profile, I do not follow them since it will take too much time. This is being selective when following people on a list of followers.

As far as more on Twitter limits, anyone can follow 2,000 people with no problem. Once you hit that limit you will need to have a certain number of people following you before you can follow more. Otherwise Twitter will say that you have hit your limit and not let you follow anymore people. After the 2,000, Twitter will let you follow another approximately 200 people before the block goes back on-- 2,200.

So what you need to do to keep building your followers is to unfollow people that are not following you. It is good to give people a few days to follow you back before unfollowing them. There are different websites with tools to use to unfollow people that are not following you so you can follow more people. There is one one place called Just Unfollow that has a free version but for some reason it is against policy to give you a link to it.

Please note that there have been times when I hit the limit of following 1,000 people in one day. So I just wait until the next day. So using the above information it is easy to get over 2,000 followers. Also if you use the hashtag symbol on your tweet like #vegan, it can help people that are not following you to see your tweet if they are looking for information on being a vegan.

Note that what is popular on Twitter now is people eating an all raw vegan diet. That means no or very little cooked foods. This type of diet has incredible testimonials for people with severe health problems. Note that the only animals (not including animals fed by man) that eat cooked food are humans and baboons. Once I was spying on baboons and when they thought no one was looking, they built a fire and starting cooking foods. Just kidding!

So here is the second part of this. If your Twitter page just has only your tweets promoting something, than it does not look good. So tweet some interesting articles that people may be very interested in, like I recently tweeted this article: The $100 Billion Storm: 17 Things You Should Know About Hurricane Sandy.

Also when you re-tweet other people, then your Twitter page has pictures of other people on it besides you. Also it generates good will from others. But here is when this thing can become very powerful. There are others on Twitter promoting things and they are willing to re-tweet your tweets if you re-tweet their tweets. I have some people with more Twitter followers than me (42,000) re-tweeting my tweets daily.

Here is information about some of the people doing the above. Some write articles (like I do) or have blogs and want more people to read these articles so they have a greater influence. Also some may make money by people clicking on the ads on these articles. One of my recent articles, What Everyone Needs to Know About Modern Medicine, tells about Erica Robinson.

She is very intelligent and loves writing and helping people with their health so she has a blog about health and she is also going to naturopathic college in Canada so she can be a naturopathic doctor or physician. She tells about personal things (writing is also very therapeutic for her) like dealing with her broken vagina syndrome. She recently had a baby and tells about getting a prolapsed uterus.

Some of the people doing the above have written books and are trying to get more people to buy them. One way to do this is to offer a free copy of the book on Kindle for a weekend and try to get listed as one of the top free books being offered. Others that are doing this are promoting things that they are selling on Ebay or Etsey. You can see them on my Twitter page.

Now it is still up to you how often your tweets will appear on your Twitter page. Sometimes I go to a Twitter page to re-tweet them and may have to look through 40 re-tweets to find a tweet by them! Right now I am trying having one of my tweets too every 10 re-tweets. It is suggested that a tweet have no more than 2 hashtags on it but sometimes I will have 3 of them on a tweet.
