At age 16 I was a volunteer at a hospital bacteriology lab. I became a chemist for U.S. government. Then I studied health & related fields.

Raw Vegan, Plant-Based Diet and Dr. Oz

What is the difference between Dr. Oz, Joel Fuhrman M.D. and Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson said that he followed a strict vegetarian diet.

So he is also saying that there is a non-strict vegetarian diet. Now since stress is the worst thing for health, which one of the above do you think will live longer?

Dr. Oz eats a raw plant-based diet or mostly raw vegan diet. Joel Fuhrman M.D. is an expert on fasting and follows a vegan diet. But when suggesting a diet for others to follow, he does not say that you should follow a strict vegan diet or if you cannot then you should eat all the meat that you possibly can (all or nothing attitude).

He says to follow a vegan diet or keep animal foods to a minimum. This was written June 10, 2013.

See Vegetarian Becomes a Supercentenarian! Bernardo LaPallo is 112 years old. Read this article to see what his 5 foods for longevity are. So what does this have to do with what Michael Jackson said? Michael Jackson died at age 50 so LaPallo is over twice as old as Jackson ever was. LaPallo said on his blog:

Do you eat any animal products at all?

I do not eat meat, except perhaps once a year. Eggs, dairy and cheese comprise a small part of my diet, too.

When I went to plant-based diet on Wikipedia it did not define it. But they did have the following definition for plant based-diet before taking it down. I did a search for this and there are 500 websites that have this quote on them:

Plant-based diet is a general term that refers to an eating pattern dominated by fresh or minimally processed plant foods and decreased consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products. [1] There is no formal definition for the term and sometimes the term is used to define a diet that excludes any meat, eggs and dairy products. Sometimes the term refers to a diet that includes animal products.

Since Bill Clinton eats fish every once in a while since he knows it will not kill him, they say that Bill Clinton follows a plant-based diet since he is not a strict vegan. Bill Clinton is now age 66.

Please note that the first picture is from Dr. Oz's website where he suggests going vegan for 28 days. Also on that page he says that this diet is good for the environment. So take 90 seconds to watch the first video below with Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Joel Fuhrman about losing excess weight.

So here are some quotes about Dr. Oz to show what he eats. Here is the Dr Oz Go Vegan diet taken down on the Examiner. Here is another article on Examiner called Dr. Oz: Why I follow a Vegetarian Diet. It said:

Dr. Oz, 52, converted to a mostly-vegetarian diet because of his wife Lisa, who has been a vegetarian since age 15. While Oz occasionally eats fish and meat, he extols the health benefits of vegetarianism.

While Oz and his family aren't vegan, they try to follow a vegan eating plan as much as possible [doing the best that they can without stressing themselves out big time].

Here is another article called Dr. Oz Talks About His Vegetarian Diet. It says:

While Oz doesn’t say that he and his family eat vegan, he does say that they try to mostly eat whole plant foods and raw foods. Dr. Oz says “I learned that you can be a vegetarian and eat food that tastes just as good as if you’re not.” and "I try to eat them raw if I can."

I have another article that goes into the latest science about why a vegan diet is healthier called Latest Science on Health Benefits of a Plant-Based or Vegan Diet. It also includes the dangers of a vegan diet. Then I have another article on the vegan diet but this time it is like the opposite of science. It is called Does a Vegan Diet Cause People to Look Much More Beautiful. This article is about people I know and includes more personal information about these people.

But while I was researching the above article I came across a video of a TV show of Dr. Oz where he has 3 women stay in a zoo (so they do not cheat) for a few days and has them eat a raw vegan diet. But on this show he calls it a 'prehistoric diet.' He explains that just by changing their diet for a few days it reduced their blood pressure.

Their average blood pressure went from 128/91 to 115/72. The average triglycerides in their arteries went from 138 to 88. The LDL went down 37 points and average weight went down 4 pounds. So go to this page on the Dr. Oz website to see all this on video, starting with part 1. It appears that he may have taken down this video. Maybe people complained. It appears to be on this now-- Prehistoric Diet.

So how much is Dr. Oz hurting is health by not being 100% raw vegan? Are he, Bill Clinton and Bernardo LaPallo idots? Will it cause them to go to hell? Dr Oz does mention in the video above that it is very hard to eat only raw vegan foods. That is why he does not do it. Well there is this Christian group called Hallelujah Acres. Now this group did a great deal of experimenting instead of following some dogma that someone's mind had decided on.

This group found that people have had many cures of all sorts of things from an all raw vegan diet including serious depression, anxiety and cancer. Note that this group does not use the word vegan (plant-based instead) but they list everything to eat and not eat.

But they did find that many people had a great deal of trouble sticking to it. Please note that you are dealing with the all or nothing attitude that Michael Jackson had and the other attitude about doing the best that you can. So this group found that it was much easier to eat an all raw plant-based diet during the day (85%) and at the end of the day, as a reward, to eat 15% healthy cooked plant-based foods.

So that could include a baked potato or brown rice and some vegetables. So they say that not only was it much easier to follow, but that the people got all the benefits of an all raw diet. As far as science, there are leukocytes (white blood cells) that are produced to fight off invaders to the body. They found that if more than 50% of the meal is cooked than the body produced these after eating. If the food was more than 50% raw, then the body did not produce these and they remained at a normal level.

So here is the website for Hallelujah Acres. Here is what this webpage says:

God's Original Diet for Mankind

The Hallelujah Diet is a menu of 85% raw, uncooked, and unprocessed plant-based food, and 15% cooked, plant-based food.

Why Plant-based Foods?

The design of the human body is not like that of carnivorous mammals; our digestive tract was not designed to properly digest and dispose of meat. Carnivorous mammals have a relatively short and straight digestive tract that eliminates meat waste efficiently [see above website for the rest of this].

Diabetes and Raw Foods

I just came across a raw foods diet that is being used to cure type 2 diabetes and help type 1 diabetes. It is described on the following 2 videos and book. This program is done by Gabriel Cousens M.D. who is also a psychiatrist. He promotes an all raw diet. See the whole story on this at How an M.D. Cured Hundreds of People of Diabetes.

On the 2 videos below it has the story of 6 people with diabetes. One dropped out since it was too hard for him, One had type 1 diabetes and reduced his insulin from 70 units to 5 units. The other 4 were off of all medications and had normal blood sugar. One of these people actually had type 1.5 diabetes.

This was a 2 part video but part 1 was taken down. I am leaving up part 2 but this first video is supposed to be the whole thing.
