Sunlight and Skin Cancer
Make sure to see the Many Health Benefits of Sunbathing . Here is something interesting about sunlight and cancer. Dermatologists say that sunlight causes melanoma (skin cancer). One out of 10,000 Americans get hit by lightning. The chance of an American getting melanoma in any year is one out of 5,000. Sunscreen and sunblock causes skin cancer. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) list the number of people getting melanoma in each state at 4 different levels from highest to lowest.
Arizona, New Mexico and Texas are right above Mexico and get intense sunlight especially with the high elevations in Arizona and New Mexico. These states are in the lowest category of melanoma.
New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont are at the top of the country with a latitude that is higher (further from the equator) than parts of Canada. These states get such weak sunlight that at least 3 months of the year, you cannot get any vitamin D from the sunlight. These states are in the category with the highest amount of melanoma cases. Is it possible that dermatologists invested money in companies selling skin products and billions of this come from people buying sunblock and sunscreen that causes skin cancer?

An interesting hub which deserves a vote up :) Vitamin D is often overlooked and I'm glad to have found such great information about it. I've heard about sunlight therapy before and importance of getting vitamin D from a natural source - a friend of mine is learning about it intensively and trying it out on himself. It seems to be working!
